Isabella's Umbrella NICU Support Foundation was created in the memory of a very special little girl, Isabella Rose. We are Isabella’s family and friends and we have united together to give comfort to families and their little ones who find themselves on a similar journey as we were. It is our wish that these families know there are people who care about them and especially their precious one.

The experience of staying with your little one in a NICU brings a sense of uncertainty and fear which can be very challenging at times. In that spirit, we have created “Isabella’s Umbrella Comfort Bags” for those who find themselves in this unknown environment.

We continue to support NICU's within Alberta and Saskatchewan. In Alberta, this includes the Stollery Children's Hospital, Foothills Medical Centre, South Health Campus, Royal Alexandra Hospital and the Red Deer Regional Hospital. In Saskatchewan, we support the Royal University Hospital.

To acknowledge the special babies of the Neonatal Intensive Care Units and their courageous families through our gift of “Isabella’s Umbrella Comfort Bags”. It is our hope to provide support for these families and for them to build memories around these items and in time, find warmth in these memories.

In our comfort bags, we are providing some daily necessity items for the parents as well as some very special items for their little ones.

  • Reusable Tote Bag
  • Notebook and Pen
  • Kleenex
  • Toothbrush, Toothpaste and Floss
  • Lotion
  • Infant Clothing Item
  • Storybook
  • Homemade Baby Blanket

When a family is faced with the life changing event of having an infant hospitalized in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, the entire family feels the strain. Our “Isabella’s Umbrella Unity Bears” are aimed at providing support for siblings of infants who are hospitalized in a NICU. Siblings are forced to not only deal with the uncertainty of their new brother or sister, but also with the separation from one or both of their parents. No matter the age of the sibling, this will be a trying time.

Our Unity Bears provide a unique opportunity for children to feel close to their sibling or parent(s) during their time apart. Each sibling will be provided with an identical Unity Bear and they will allow the children to feel a sense of inclusion and connection to their sibling or parent(s) while separated. When one sibling is thinking of the other, they can simply embrace or hug their own Unity Bear while thinking of their loved ones. No matter the distance apart, these Unity Bears will always be united with a families love.

Isabella’s Umbrella will provide Unity Bears to families on a per request basis, at no cost to the families. When we are contacted by a family member, friend, or hospital personal we will quickly put together a Unity Bear package and have it delivered to the Hospital NICU. Our Unity Bears will also be available to families who are faced with the loss of their little one; the Unity Bear package will be delivered to the families’ home.

H.E.A.R.T.S (Helping Empty Arms Recover Through Sharing) provides peer support to families as they grieve the loss of their baby. Their “Sharing & Caring” baby loss support group plays a vital role for families through their grief process. H.E.A.R.T.S. focus is to provide peer support and education (non-counseling) for anyone who has been touched by the loss of a baby during pregnancy or shortly after birth. Isabella’s Umbrella NICU Support Foundation has chosen to support this much needed program by supplying them with requested infant loss literature that is then provided to families at no charge.
